After Dinner Speech with Georgie Sharples

Georgie is Para Dressage Performance Manager at the British Equestrian Federation, where she leads the World Class Programme for one of Great Britain’s most consistently successful Paralympic disciplines.

With more than two decades of experience in elite sport, Georgie brings a wealth of high-performance expertise from both within and beyond equestrianism. Prior to joining the BEF, she held senior roles with the British Paralympic Association, including Head of Performance and Deputy Chef de Mission at the Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

She has also worked in other Olympic sports, including as Programme Director for British Gymnastics’ trampoline programme, giving her a broad and innovative perspective on performance systems and athlete development.

Since moving into equestrian sport, Georgie has played a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening the para dressage programme, overseeing athlete preparation, selection, and the integration of world-leading veterinary, medical and sports science support. Her leadership has contributed to continued international success, including championship medals and the development of exciting new horse-and-rider combinations on the road to the Paralympic Games.

Known for her collaborative approach and attention to detail, Georgie is passionate about creating environments where athletes and their support teams can thrive. She is widely respected for her ability to blend performance strategy with a deep understanding of the unique demands of para sport, ensuring both horse and rider are supported to perform at their very best.

As an after-dinner speaker, Georgie offers a fascinating insight into the world of elite para sport, sharing stories from behind the scenes of international competition, lessons in leadership and teamwork, and the relentless pursuit of excellence at the highest level.
