Conference Overview

Symmetry and soundness in the horse refers to the balance and harmony of the musculoskeletal system and its impact on how the horse moves. As owners, riders, trainers and therapists we are all striving to ensure our horses are symmetrical and sound.

With the pressures of daily riding and competition, our training and care focuses on correcting any asymmetry in both horse and rider, as well as taking measures to keep the horse sound. Both symmetry and soundness are essential for optimal health, welfare and performance of horses.

But how do we achieve symmetry and soundness – is it just a case of correct training, management and therapy?

The Horses Inside Out 2026 Conference will take a deep dive into this topic and get to grips with what it is, what we need to alter in our management and training to achieve it, and what problems we may be faced with along the way.

This dedicated equine science conference is a must attend event for anyone who works in the equestrian industry. It's a unique opportunity to hear from world-leading equine experts and discover the latest thinking in the equestrian world to improve the health and welfare of the horse. Delving deep into the world of equine anatomy and biomechanics, and how it can help us improve the training and care of horses.

The 2026 Conference will be a little different

With two days of presentations from leading equine professionals who will discuss the latest thinking and research help to educate us all so we have a clearer understanding of the complex issue of symmetry and soundness.

This will be followed by a third day where we will look in detail at

Symmetry and Soundness in Practice.

This day is only available to attend in person and will consist of practical sessions with a number of the guest speakers. This is a unique learning opportunity to see practical demonstrations with live horses given by world leading experts. You will go home with tips and exercises that will improve both horse and rider.

There's so much to see and do while you’re at the conference. Take a look around the presentation stands in the Exhibition Zone, examine bones, full equine skeletons and anatomical sculptures in our Anatomy Exhibition and much more….
